"The Melo" sandwich

In honor of Carmelo Anthony's arrival to the New York Knicks, the Carnegie Deli has released "The Melo" sandwich.

Word has it, you have until 4 a.m. and if you finish the first sandwich you get the second one free.

Albeit, if you don't finish the second by the deadline you have to pay the $21.95 fee for each sandwich. That's if you don't have a heart attack first.

Allow me to reintroduce myself..

Wiz Khalifa plays too much SNES.

I used to play this Super Nintendo game called "Chrono Trigger" when I was a kid.

It was a phase..

Now I'm going through a Wiz Khalifa phase and never in a million years did I think those two phases would cross paths.

I recently stumbled upon Khalifa's video for "Never Been" off Kush & OJ. (Takes about 40 seconds to get started.)

As I started listening I got this strange feeling of déjà vu, but I knew I hadn't listened to it before.

Then the lightbulb went off and I looked up the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. (See disc three, track six - "Schala's Theme.")

Sound familiar?

If Wiz thinks he can pull a fast one me, he better think again..

The beginning of a beautiful friendship..

I realized I have too much shit in my head and it's interfering with my schoolwork.

So here is the birth of an outlet for the pinball machine I call a brain.

I’ll break this down quickly. I spend a majority of my time reading ESPN and watching YouTube videos.

The clicking, back-and-forth, is painstaking work, I know. I’m here because I want to make it easier for people to veg-out on all the things that perpetuate my life.

I’m an avid Packers fan. Needless to say I watched their season extensively.

As I watched, I noticed Aaron Rodgers’ belt gesture become more apparent throughout the playoffs. (fast forward to about 30 seconds in.)

This led me to do some investigating about where it all comes from.

After all, I watched live what Stephen Jackson was thinking when he drilled that buzzer beater a few week ago to beat the Atlanta Hawks. (Cleary putting on the belt.)

After a bit of research, I obviously found out that the belt represents those similar to the ones received by UFC, Boxing and WWE competitors. I wanted to see who coined the gesture outside of those sports though.
The results were shocking…And hilarious.

Turns out Rasheed Wallace, creator of “Ball don’t lie” spawned the trend after the 2003-2004 NBA season.

According to an article by www.thetruthsports.com:

“Wallace helped the Pistons win an unexpected NBA title, beating the heavily favored Lakers 4 games to 1. After the championship season, he paid for replica WWE World Heavyweight Championship belts to be made for each of his teammates and presented them as gifts when the 2004–05 regular season started.”

Oh, on a side-note. Congratulations to the Knickerbockers for ending the so-called MeloDrama and thus sparing us even more extensive coverage of repeatedly asking a man the same question. Looks like ‘Melo’s in that New York state of mind.
